The Legacy Project

A Long-Range Vision for Facilities at Cedar Rock First Baptist Church

Leaving a Legacy for those who will come after us.

In 2026, Cedar Rock celebrates 150 years of ministry in our community. This anniversary provides us a unique opportunity to look back at the legacy that's been given to us — and to plan how we will steward that legacy into the future.

At the same time, Cedar Rock is experiencing unprecedented gospel growth. Since 2021, Cedar Rock's worship attendance has more than doubled, and our Sunday School attendance has more than tripled. To God alone be the glory for his work among us and in our community!

In response, Cedar Rock's pastor, deacons, and staff have prayerfully mapped out a path forward for our facilities. We call it the Legacy Project.

What Values Are Guiding our Decision-Making?

he church is a people, not a place.

Jesus died to save a people (Titus 2:14). So our buildings aren’t the church; we are. This understanding helps us view our facilities in the proper perspective.

Facilities Serve the mission.

Cedar Rock exists to “grow disciples of Jesus.” Our facilities help us achieve that goal — through giving us a place to worship, study, fellowship, and serve our neighbors.

We want to be one church.

Cedar Rock is a family, and we want to cultivate that connection that makes us so unique. As we grow, we want to fight for spaces and opportunities to keep us together as one body.

We take Stewardship seriously.

Facility upgrades and additions are expensive. We aim to be careful and wise with the church’s finances.

The Spirit must guide us.

We want to have a roadmap for the future. But at the end of the day, we want to submit to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all things. So we hold these plans lightly, and we trust him to guide as as he sees fit.
What can you do?
  • Pray that God would grant us tremendous wisdom.
  • Offer your feedback. This plan is fluid and open to input!
